O’labumi Brown was born and raised in New York City, where she studied with Michel Marriott, whose memoir workshops were legendary. Brown, a memoirist, loves using metaphor to set a mood. Her short story “Romance on the Iron” was published in Between the Covers: An Adult Romance Anthology, and her short story “Dragon Della” was published in ThereAfter Magazine. Her debut memoir Hairalujah traces the author's journey of queer identity in the 80s and steps through allegory’s shadow to tell a story about the lessons she’s learned and how she rose from the rubble. O’labumi currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

About Me:
I Am A Writer
who desires to leave her footprint behind.
I Am A Writer
who loves the feel, smell and turning of the page.
I Am A Writer
Who enjoys telling it like it is.
I Am A Writer
who doesn't own ebooks.
I Am A Writer
who strives for progress, not perfection.
I Am A Writer
who delights in the power of the pen.
-
I am a writer who desired to be honest about what I put on the page. No matter how uncomfortable it may seem. I am a writer of perseverance. I am a writer who often falls asleep with a hardcover next to me. I am a writer who was read to by a mother who couldn't use the restroom without snatching something off the shelf to read.
